Creating captivating spaces sometimes means doing the unexpected. Some of my favorite tricks include: 1) Hanging items from the ceiling to add interest from above. 2) Using memorabilia from travels or family heirlooms as decor, 3) Repurposing items that were not originally intended for your needs, but they do the job oh. so. well. For example: These french doors were originally the homeowners great-grandparents. Repurposing them as a headboard is a beautiful way to incorporate a family heirloom, do something unique, and extend your eye upward because of the scale of the doors.
